New AMD mobile processors deliver outstanding performance with Windows® XP.

SUNNYVALE, CA-NOVEMBER 12, 2001
-AMD today introduced the 1.2GHz mobile AMD Athlon(tm) 4 and 950MHz mobile AMD Duron(tm) processors with AMD PowerNow!(tm) technology, the industry's most sophisticated power management solution. Since their introduction earlier this year, AMD mobile processors have achieved significant market acceptance in the U.S. retail notebook market.

The 1.2GHz mobile AMD Athlon 4 processor delivers high performance on a wide range of business productivity and multimedia applications. The mobile AMD Duron processor offers a robust combination of performance and features for value notebook PCs. Both new AMD mobile processors are compatible with the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system, and deliver exceptional performance on a wide range of industry-leading software.

Compaq Computer Corporation is expected to offer notebook PCs based on the 1.2GHz mobile AMD Athlon 4 and 950MHz mobile AMD Duron processors later this quarter.

Availability

Compaq plans to feature AMD mobile processors in its Compaq Presario 700 notebook series. The Presario 700 can be ordered from the Compaq Web site at http://www.athome.compaq.com, and "Built for You" kiosks located in participating retailers, beginning Nov. 21.


Pricing
The 1.2GHz AMD mobile Athlon 4 processor is priced at $525 and the 950MHz mobile AMD Duron processor is priced at $160, all in 1,000-unit quantities. For complete pricing information, please see:

About the Mobile AMD Athlon(tm) 4 Processor

The mobile AMD Athlon 4 processor features 384 KB of on-chip, full-speed cache with hardware data pre-fetch (256KB of on-chip level (L2) cache and 128 Kbytes of on-chip level (L1) cache), a superscalar floating-point unit, support for AMD's 3DNow!(tm) Professional instruction set for enhanced multimedia capabilities, and AMD PowerNow! technology for extended battery life up to 30 percent.

The mobile AMD Athlon 4 processor is compatible with AMD's Socket A infrastructure, and supports the advanced 200MHz AMD Athlon front-side bus, providing the highest bandwidth available for notebook PCs.

Mobile AMD Athlon 4 processors are manufactured using AMD's 0.18-micron copper process technology in Fab 30 in Dresden, Germany.

The new mobile AMD Duron processor is designed to provide an optimized solution for value-conscious business and home users. Employing an innovative design, the mobile AMD Duron processor features AMD PowerNow! technology, a sophisticated cache architecture with 192KB of total on-chip cache and data pre-fetch, a high-speed 200MHz front-side bus, and a superscalar floating point unit with support for AMD's 3DNow! Professional technology.
