2001 for Performance Desktop Computer; Features World's Highest Performing PC

SUNNYVALE, CA-DECEMBER 21,
2001-AMD today announced that PC Magazine has
awarded an AMD Athlon(tm) XP processor-based system, the Compaq Presario 8000Z,
the best PC desktop system for 2001. The award will be announced in PC
Magazine's Best of 2001 issue (January 15, 2002), on sale beginning December 26.
The Compaq Presario 8000Z, a powerful desktop that delivers outstanding
performance and expandability to meet the needs of users seeking a powerful
system to enjoy digital music, 3D gaming, digital imaging, video, and online
shopping and buying, features the
AMD Athlon XP processor 1800+ and DDR (Double Data Rate) memory.
This is the second time this year PC Magazine has honored this system. The
Compaq Presario 8000Z won PC Magazine's Editors' Choice Award, announced in its
December 11th issue.
The Best of 2001 is a roundup of the best products and services as tested and
selected by PC Magazine editors. This year's edition honors 53 award winners.
According to the online edition of the Best of 2001, PC Magazine editors write,
"The Compaq Presario 8000z offers the crème de la crème of computer hardware..."
"This Best of 2001 recognition, coupled with the Editors' Choice honor PC
